The New Toy

It seems that my passion for bloggin' is running thinner each time i post something.

I've been pretty occupied with my new job. Yes. To those who are still asking or having doubts about my last post, i have resigned and have started my new job working for a much bigger 'organization'. Like people say, bigger does not always means better. The amount of work and attention one must put in to survive in this situation is really too much to bear. For someone like me who have been having a pretty laid-back time in my ex company, this is even harder to adjust to.

Its been a while since my last laptop got burnt and i've been looking around for a decent replacement. With SGD1899 i finally got something which i would deem as worthy. Comes with a free 1GB RAM, 1 additional year of international warranty, an 80GB Maxtor 2.5" One Touch Backup HDD, 1 year license of Internet Security, a Logitech Optical Mouse and of course, a lifetime warranty carrying case. Just another thing to be excited for a while. My new M200-P430. I named it after the Sun god - Amon-Ra.

The birds are chirping again, at last.

I have been holding it back till this day. Thanks to a certain individual that shall not be named, who reminded me of my past experience. Today, i finally took off my title for the past 2 years. I'm moving on... Its been a while since i felt this bound-free. And its a good feeling. I'm just gonna lay back, enjoy my break and read a few good books if i can.

The days after...

It's been a week since i got back from the third world country. My flu still lingers...the grey clouds too. The atmosphere in the office has gotten worse. More people calling sick, down with flu. And I began to wonder why, being me...i still find myself coming to work everyday. The air conditioner is still working at its peak, despite our admin's plea to have it adjusted according to the weather. I suppose nothing would be done until someone collapses in the office and we had to call the ambulance. Perhaps then, something might happen.

With all that said, you might have the impression that I'm pretty much HOOKED to my job. Well...I haven't been too productive actually. My daily chores are pretty dull...and it gets worse by the day. Almost tasteless now. Perhaps its something about the weather. The air. The people. Or...just me.

It's Friday again. After lunch. I'm just sitting here, listening to Michael Bubble's Always on My Mind...a good song for days like this, waiting for the time...time to call it a weekend. I'm heading home again this evening. Something which i've been looking forward to since Tuesday. I guess everything else can wait till i come back.
By then, it's gonna be another new week. And i can more or less tell, the week would repeat itself...again.

Cambodian Days And Nights

My 5 days spent in Siem Reap was a mixture of everything. Sunny days, rainy afternoons, sunny evenings, rainy nights...from magnificient carvings to stones, rocks and rubbles...its more than what words can describe. In short, i will probably not return for a long time. Maybe i've really spent too many days there. A short trip of 3days would probably be more enjoyable and have a longer lasting good impression.

The town is dusty at all times. Our trip is suppose to be an adventure, so we booked our tuk-tuk on our first day. Imagine having to put on a mask and shades all the time. I can still recall feeling rather excited when i boarded the tuk-tuk from the airport to the hotel. Admiring the views along the way, chatting happily with my mates...till i felt the sand in between my teeth when i reach the hotel, that's when my feeling for such adventure ends.

The first day was rather bad, it began to rain when we reach Angkor Wat. With raincoats and umbrella we ventured in, the rain stopped after a while and the evening sun was upon us. The sight was pretty amazing. Especially the local children were kinda happy kicking away puddles of water. I think i might have caught the flu at that time.

The second day, no sunrise for us due to the rain the night before. So we took our time, got our driver to a stall that sells french bread with mince pork, cucumber, mayo, tomato and spring onion (the whole damn thing! not chopped or even cut! - kinda reminds me of those vegetation that the people in jakarta held in their hand when they have their rice). I kinda regretted watching how they made those. I couldn't even finish my half. The rest of the day was pretty amazing, being the first time in Cambodia, visiting ruins and all. It was a pretty fun thing. Till it started to rain and shine again. I lost count as to how many times that happen. I got sick that night.

The third day we got up early to catch the sunrise. We were pretty determined though it did rain the night before. The next morning, weather was good. We got out of the hotel by 4 plus to catch the first ray of light that's gonna hit Angkor Wat. Surprisingly, there were alot of people waiting with their cameras ready and gazing into the eastern horizon. We were so not alone. It's kinda tough trying to get pictures and having to avoid unwanted 'heads' in it. The rest of the day was pretty chaotic for me. I felt my bones aching, my nose like a tap running loose and despite all that, i had to press on with the walks and climbs. We managed to catch the sunset too that evening, not sure if its the breeze on the hill or was it the view...i remember feeling alot better at that time.

The fourth was pretty much a bonus. We have nothing much to do on the 4th day. All the sites what we would have wanted to visited, its all done by then. So we decided to venture off further out...to the floating village and the cover the remaining of the track - the Rulous group. It's well worth the visit...at least, an eye-opener. Along the way to the lake, there were straw huts. The poor people still lives in huts and dont even have clean water to drink from. Children were either really skinny, not fully dressed or naked.
The floating village was slightly different, they have everything that they needed on floating decks. Barbers, schools, churches, groceries stores etc. Though all these were floating on a lake which looks 'orangy', it is still something which you dont see in your everyday life.

The fifth day after breakfast, we were bound to depart home. So there's really not much left to do but to bid farewell to our tuk-tuk driver. Take a pic or two with his smily, innocent face. Gave him my remaining bottle of mineral water :P Then we're off. Surprisingly, our flight did not get delayed this time.

TRUE...it sucks.

It's been almost 2 years.
And lately i've been getting pretty upset with this yoga center of mine.
They have just EXPANDED. Thats what their banners or promo fliers have been telling every innocent souls out there. Yeah, indeed they have, at Ocean Towers. But with bigger rooms, they can place MORE mats and get more people into that room. Whats the difference??? The mats are so CLOSELY placed next to each other. I dont even have enough space to stretch and move!

They mentioned, controlled size in classes, limited students per class etc. Yeah, limited alright. Whenever u try to book, they said "sorry, fully book at 7pm, 7:15pm also, until 8pm. This is PEAK HOUR, maybe u should come during off peak hours". What the ?! If you know you cannot handle so many members during that hour, YOU should do something about it rite? And u still see them trying very hard to signup new members every now and then. But how often do they EXPAND?

Recently they tried to entice me to extend my contract for another 3 years. LUCKY i didn't fell for that. Saying i could save $20 per month if i extend. Well, i think in this case, i'll just save ALL my money instead.

A new place called...room

I've shifted into my new place last weekend. This place is alot cozier than my previous. A big contribution came from my housemate cum owner which happens to be an ex-interior designer. Thus the layout and settings of the house (including my room) has got an artists' touch to it. It made me kinda uncomfortable at first, everything was so neat and properly arranged. I had a feeling like i'm living in an IKEA home. And yea, most of the stuff in the house, i think probably comes from IKEA or some other designer/label furniture store. A pretty expensive rental i'm paying, most people tells me. But hey, if it comes with free room cleaning and laundry services...i suppose its all good. At least, it is...for now. Barely a week in this new place, and i'm pretty sure this is only a beginning of yet another...adventure.

Here are some pics of the new place.

Friday's late event

Its been few months since this event was launched. Finally, i've got the chance to witness what's the fuss all about later. Wasn't really expecting much. Hopefully, i get to be suprised.
