This is a story of how an old hag turned into now what others kept calling - 'Super Pretty'.
This not your regular fairy tale, mind you...but a REALITY. I heard it with my very own two ears. Unless...if my ears betrayed me.
Once upon a time...two or three years ago...I came to know a short skinny lady known as Miss S (Not her real name). She was so skinny and pale that you'd probably mistook her for one of those malnutritioned girls who can't grow any taller because of the deficiency. Back then, she has this habit of not eating proper lunch or dinner...but when it comes to snacks, she's the queen. Always wanting to cut down on her excess fat that she claimed she has hiding somewhere under her skin...which the rest of us cant see. She likes to proclaim herself being old and mature...and that the rest of us are just KIDS in her eyes. We couldn't agree more on that. She is old. Pale. Skinny. She's a mess. That was back then.
Now, at present time. A different location. She is still the mess she was back then. Put on some extra pounds (only some...barely noticable), more pale than before, but people's impression on her has changed. Drastically that is. From my mouth...I still spurt out words that begins with 'old...'. Others disagreed. She's now 'Super Pretty' in their eyes. Glimmering and shining like the queen she used to be. Although she still likes snacking on the street...biting on fried fishballs...day in day out. Only this time... she's earned the respect she deserved. The verbal respect that I never...and couldn't have given her. Not in this life.
I seek no solace in telling her tale here, just as a tribute to 'Super Pretty'. May you achieve all your life objectives my 'old' friend. Good luck ;)

Breathin' Bangkok
I arrive late yesterday noon. Feeling rather tired, not from the flight but from the cab ride I took from the airport. The jam was horrible on a late Saturday noon. I checked-in to the hotel, and was rather glad the room was as big as what I'd expected it to be. A whole room all to myself for three days. The privacy and space that I'd come here to seek for, is now here. I can spend the entire weekend in this room reading a good book or just laying around on my bed doing nothing. But I have a few people I would need to meet. Perhaps a dinner or two. The room will have to wait.
I unpacked my small weekender, unloaded my toiletteries and hung 2 pieces of tshirt and a pair of 3/4 pants, few underwear and some socks. That's all I could carry in my small bag. I'm not here for a fashion parade anyway, so I hope these few pieces of clothing would suffice.
After spending an hour walking outside with a friend, and we had late lunch together...I went over to ISetan. Just a short stroll before I came back to the hotel and prepare myself for the dinner which my friends had thrown (halfly, if not entirely) for me. We reached pretty late. The cab driver who took us was a wild hound on loose of its leash. Nevertheless, we arrive unscatched.
The dinner was on a boat. They managed to book the upper deck. We made our way up and sat down to order. Luckily, someone came prepared with a list of what to order in Thai. We just pushed the list to the waitress, they mumbled something more and we're done. The boat (it's rather a ship than a boat, actually) set sailed within minutes after we sat down. And almost halfway along the river cruise, dinner was served. It was a good one. I had fish again. Dinner on a ship like this, with a good view along the river...clear, bright night sky with glimmering stars up above...chilling out with some friends...talking about old times...reliving those memories then laughing it off...its already worth making the trip up to this moment. If I were to go home now...I would have returned without regrets of making such short decision. But I have 2 more days to go. The remainings would be a Bonus. Too bad I don't have my camera with me, only managed to get a disposable one at Changi. It says it wont take pictures in the dark. Only in the daylight.
Reached hotel about 11pm. Took my shower and thought I could read some or watch some tv before I call it a day. But my eyes couldn't stay open anymore...
This morning I woke up feeling very refreshed. I didn't even wake last nite. Just had breakfast downstairs. Going out for a small shopping trip in a while...The sun's up in the sky again...its 12noon here...and its 39degrees outside. I hope the mall has good airconditioning.

Wait and thou shall receive
Awaiting this weekend...
I guess I've been complaining about how bored life has become here way too often...
I got bored of complaining too...
2 days ago, I made a harsh decision... I hope it's a good one.

Memory problem
Recently, I've been experiencing frequent memory loss. Maybe I'm aging faster than I think. Maybe because I'm not eating enough fish (some people did say fish can help)...but nevertheless, i resort to a more 'practical' way. Hope in a week or two, I'll notice some results. Fish is my friend now. I eat them.
First of May
Though its still quite far from May. This song came up randomly on my player. I suddenly felt the urge to put this in. I used to love this song. I still do now. Stirred up alot of memories...and old fairy tale-like fantasies too. An emotional burst. One that I've been missing for so long...one that I would probably need at this very moment...when my day earlier has gone not-so-good. This at least, will help soften the sharp edges of this cruel realistic world. I'd better indulge myself in this for a while...and while i still can.

Bee Gees - First Of May
When I was small, and Christmas trees were tall,
we used to love while others used to play.
Don't ask me why, but time has passed us by,
some one else moved in from far away.
chorus:
Now we are tall, and Christmas trees are small,
and you don't ask the time of day.
But you and I, our love will never die,
but guess we'll cry come first of May.
The apple tree that grew for you and me,
I watched the apples falling one by one.
And I recall the moment of them all,
the day I kissed your cheek and you were mine.
>>> chorus
When I was small, and Christmas trees were tall,
do do do do do do do do do...
Don't ask me why, but time has passed us by,
some one else moved in from far away.

If it's organic...it's gotta be good!
Yesterday, I went over to Raffle's City during lunch. The crowd was pesky and plenty as usual. Lunch hour is like any other rush hour. I couldn't have gone or make such an effort if it's not because of someone's birthday request. Wanted a wallet he said. And one with a "cow" on it. Sure. He sure knows how to pick one. Of course...bearing such nickname and one that he has held for so long, he sure knows the definition of the word: luxury. I went out...pick the wallet...i tried my best to pick the 'ugliest' color... one that he would have a hard time finding a matching pair of pants to go with >:) Cow...? sure...i can give him a 'cow'...hahahahahahaha......
And I really did bought him a genuine one. Cost me 90over dollars...but luckily, we have 6 to share.
When I was done, I walked across the alley and found something...peculiar. Something that (perhaps...its only me...) looks odd.
Even shirts have gone organic! What else is next...???

Something must have gone wrong in people's mind. It was advertised that this shirt is identified as an 'organic' one due to the process of making it. From planting the seeds of the cotton they used to spin it; the fertilizers they use on the cotton tree, etc. till they come out with this final product. All steps involved that 'can be' organic. Is organic. Hmm....makes me wonder why would people wanna dress themselves in organic shirt? And of course, like all things organic....it comes with a pretty hefty price tag ;)
